Can the CVV number on my new card be the same as my old one? – Q&A
Recently, I opened a second account at wellsfargo (my old one is at Comerica) and got a new card. What’s odd is the 3 digit CVV number on the back is the same as my old one. I chose my pin myself but as far as I know the number of random.
Pure chance, or do they select the number based on something static like my SSN?

Pure luck, if you don’t like it, say if you think your card was/is compromised, have the bank replace the card for you. They will be happy to do so.
Interesting, thank you!
1 in 999 chance, but still a chance!
It is higher than that. The CVV is made using an algorithm of the 16 digit card number, exp date, service code, and bank’s private key.
